The evening of August 8, 1981 finds ASHAROKEN in Poughkeepsie NY after her arrival from
Grand Central Terminal in the consist of Metro North train 897. Although still identified in LIRR
markings, the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority has transferred her from LIRR
to Metro North RR where she will serve as a commuter bar car on Hudson Line trains
between Poughkeepsie and NewYork, before her future conversion to a track inspection car.

After rebuilding as a track inspection - business car, the car is designated Metro-North Railroad 2.
