It is June 1969 and Alco C420 locomotive 218 is
west of Quogue with train 9 from Montauk to Jamiaca. The first four cars in today's consist are former Kansas
City Southern coaches that have not yet been repainted into MTA/LIRR colors.

It is June 1970 and Alco C420 locomotive 200 is
approaching Jamica with a westbound train from Greenport. The consist is three Kansas
City Southern coaches and a New Haven BEACH series 6-6-4 sleeper.

In this 1970 scene, westbound train 211 is passing the GLF elevators
located on the west side of Riverhead. The consist is Alco C420
locmotive 200, a pair of former KCS coaches, a third coach and
a B60 baggage car.

It is Friday, June 16, 1972 and one of LIRR's former
KCS coaches is the rear car on train 18, The Cannonball, at Westhampton.
Although the car number is not legible in the photo, this appears
to be one of the cars built by ACF in 1956.

the LIRR's original (long abandoned) Whitestone Branch. Did you
notice the "Unisphere",
which was the centerpiece of the New York World's Fair of 1964-1965,
visible in the distance directly over the furthest car in the string
of 4 cars?
