LIRR 2065
MATTINICOCK

Still wearing her New Haven livery as MANOMET POINT, we find the car on the rear of a westbound train making the stop at Patchogue. The lighting and shadows suggest a morning train from Montauk back to Jamaica / Hunterspoint Avenue. There was ferry service between Patchogue and Fire Island, so Patchogue could be a source of parlor car traffic. We can see the car immediately ahead is in Kansas City Southern colors, and the visible details suggest that it is one of the three 14 roomette 4 double bedroom sleepers that LIRR acquired from KCS for parlor service. All of the lightweight cars that LIRR acquired for parlor car service operated in their previous owner's livery for a period of time before they were eventually repainted in MTA LIRR livery.
