August 28, 2016: Added R. F. Makse's photo of LAKE OKEECHOBEE on the rear of train 22 at Westhampton on Friday evening August 22, 1969. The railroad would eventually redesigmate this car as 2064 APAQUOGUE. Added an October 21, 1979 photo of 2082 ASHAROKEN, with a "RAIL 'n SAIL" drumhead, at Greenport; from the collection of Dave Keller.

August 27, 2016: Added two photos by Richard Glueck. One photo shows the Shelter Island Express rolling thru Mineola in 1971. The first two cars in the consist, a former UP lounge car and a former NH sleeper, are providing parlor car service. A combine, with a bar setup in the baggage area, is providing beverages for thirsty coach passengers. The other photo shows former New Haven sleeper RACE POINT rolling thru Mineola on The Cannonball, circa 1969.

August 23, 2016: Added a September 1972 photo of 2072 TACKAPAUSHA at Oyster Bay, contributed by Ed Frye. This is the first photo I have seen of this car repainted into MTA LIRR colors and with the name lettered on the side of the car. I had previously listed this car's name as TUCKAPAUSHA, but I have corrected that since the name TACKAPAUSHA is clearly visible on the side of the car. Added a Rickard Glueck photo of 2062 WYANDANCH in MTA LIRR colors on a Montauk train.

July 11, 2016: Added a photo of the interior of one of the two former Union Pacific club lounge cars acquired for parlor car service. This photo, taken by Newsday photographer Ike Eichorn, appeared on the official MTA/LIRR Facebook page indicating it was a parlor car from Greenport to New York City in 1970. Thanks to Steve Lynch for bringing this photo to my attention; thanks to Ed Frye for confirming my opinion that this is one of the two former UP cars that LIRR renamed TUCKAHOE and TACKAPAUSHA.

February 20, 2014: Received report from Tim Moriarty that former LIRR cars stored at Culbertson PA (Cumberland Valley Business Park, the former Letterkenny Army Depot) were scrapped on-site by Hub Scrap Metals LLC of Hagerstown MD approximately three or four years ago due to the car owner's failure to pay storage charges to Pennsylvania & Southern Railway. The cars scrapped are presumed to include Sunrise Fleet parlor cars 2001 (formerly 2016), 2012, 2017 and 2019.

January 22, 2014: Added a William Rugen photo, from Dave Keller's archive, of heavyweight parlor car 2020 PATCHOGUE taken at Montauk in May 1966. This is our first and only photo of this car; we have been looking for a photo of this car since we launched this website in 2002!

December 8, 2008: Added links to off-site photos of the three Kansas City Southern lightweight sleepers prior to their acquisition by LIRR. Added link to off-site photo of coach LIRR 529. Added link to off-site photo of former LIRR coach owned by Railroad Passenger Cars, Inc. (RRP) and leased to Amtrak.

November 28, 2008: Revised page of photos of former Delaware, Lackawanna & Western / Erie - Lackawanna coaches. Added links to off-site photos of some of these cars when they were owned by DLW or EL prior to their service on LIRR.

November 24, 2008: Revised the roster of 16 lightweight coaches LIRR acquired from Kansas City Southern in August 1968, correcting previous errors in the history of the cars. I noted that LIRR 8554 (originally KCS 239 KANSAS CITY) was built as a 62 seat divided chair car (a.k.a. "Jim Crow" car), possibly the LIRR's only passenger car originally built for such service in the segregated southern states. Added links to off-site photos of some of these cars when they were owned by KCS prior to sale to LIRR.

November 15, 2008: Dave Keller found a slide of heavyweight car 2037 renamed ONTEORA, which was taken at Greenport in 1972. It proves that the car named TUSCARORA CLUB really was renamed ONTEORA sometime between June 1971 and when the photo was taken in 1972.

October 29, 2008: Updated heavyweight roster with new information on 2037 TUSCARORA CLUB obtained from the late Ed Schaller's Lehigh Valley Railroad Modeler website, now hosted by the Anthracite Railroads Historical Society.

October 26, 2008: Added a June 1971 photo of 2037 TUSCARORA CLUB contributed by Dave Keller. This is the first photo I have seen of this car in the MTA blue and platinum mist colors.

October 11, 2008: Dave Corbett of Potomac Eagle Scenic Railway tells me that the former LIRR 2000 AMAGANSETT / MORRIS PARK has been been moved to Romney WV on the South Branch Valley RR / Potomac Eagle Scenic Railway.
